Get your Vietnamese street food fix from The Rice Hut

Noodles, salads, baguettes and rice papers rolls just like off the streets of the French Quarter in Hanoi. In Vietnam, food is supplied by street hawkers on cyclos (three-wheeled bicycles) or by carrying food in baskets hanging from a shoulder bamboo pole.

The Rice Hut market stall is manned by two sisters whose passion is authentic and healthy Vietnamese cuisine. The Rice Hut sets up at all of the Jan Powers Markets (except Mitchelton) and with its signature fresh green grass branding, reinforces that the food is bursting with healthy flavour.

Try chargrilled marinated pork, delicately wrapped in rice paper with a crispy roll and salad, served with a special traditional dipping sauce. The rice noodle salad is equally as delicious, with your choice of caramelised pork, Vietnamese-style beef, garlic-and-lemongrass chicken or vegetarian fresh tofu. The salad is a combination of light rice noodles served with fresh Asian salads and herbs, topped with your choice of chargrilled meat or tofu and served with a traditional tangy sweet dressing. Lovers of banh mi thit won’t be disappointed either. Munch on the Three Piglets Baguette, which is layered with garlic mayonnaise, pate, barbecue pork, sliced pork loaf and sliced peppercorn pork, topped with pickled carrots, cucumber, coriander, shards of spring onion and a light drizzle of homemade sweet soy sauce.
